March 5, 2009 Nevada could receive an enormous boost toward becoming the nation’s renewable energy leader under legislation being introduced Thursday by Nevada Senator Harry Reid. This bill will promote investments in transmission to increase access to renewable power. Simply put, the bill makes it easier to deliver clean energy from remote areas like White Pine County to more populated areas like Reno and Las Vegas. “The concept of this bill is simple, we need to have an efficient way to take energy created in often remote areas and move it to where it is needed,” Reid said. “This is especially important for states like Nevada because it will create thousands of good-paying jobs and help diversify the economy.” To read more about Reid’s transmission bill please click here. |
