Nevada Senator Harry Reid responded to the President’s announcement this week that he is lifting an executive ban on offshore oil drilling by highlighting the need to invest in renewable energy. Additional offshore drilling will do nothing to lower gas prices or increase the supply of oil in the immediate future. Reid believes oil companies should begin exploration on the 68 million acres on which they are currently sitting before being given access to even more land.

We can not drill our way out of this energy crisis, which is why Reid is hosting the National Clean Energy Summit this August at UNLV. This forum will bring together leading experts in the clean energy revolution from all over the country to discuss America’s energy future. Reid believes by investing in solar, wind, and geothermal power sources, Nevada could be the world leader in renewable energy. Read more on Reid's efforts to promote renewable energy in Nevada and across America.
