Nevada's graduation rate ranks 49th in the nation - with nearly a
third of the state's students dropping out of high school. To address this
crisis, Senator Harry Reid will introduce the Graduation Promise Act. This
legislation, “will live up to its name by providing needed support to
struggling high schools to help students stay in school,” said Reid. This new law will create a
five-year, $2.4 billion “High School Improvement and Dropout Reduction Fund” to
target the lowest-performing high schools – the roughly 2,000 high schools
across the country with graduation rates below 60 percent.
