Senator Reid met with two school principals honored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Nevada Senator Reid congratulates the 2009 Nevada Middle and High School Principals of the Year, Kathy Kulas and Dr. Jeff Geihs.

Washington, D.C.— Nevada Senator Harry Reid today met with two principals from Las Vegas who are being honored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Kathy Kulas, principal of Anthony Saville Middle School in Northwest Las Vegas, and Dr. Jeff Geihs, former principal of Cheyenne High School in North Las Vegas were recognized as the 2009 Nevada middle and high school principals of the year. The National Association of Secondary School Principals has recognized middle and high school principals from each state since 1993.

Reid congratulated Mrs. Kulas and Dr. Geihs on this outstanding honor and thanked them for their hard work and dedication in ensuring that all students are successful. Senator Reid has worked to improve student achievement in our middle and high schools. He recently introduced legislation, the Secondary Schools Innovation Fund, which will provide $500 million in grants each year to develop innovative approaches to help raise student achievement in Nevada’s middle and high schools.

“There is no better investment for our nation's future than providing our children with a good education,” said Reid. “I will continue to work to ensure that all students can receive a quality education in our state.”
