Reid and AG tour Las Vegas Fusion Counterterrorism Center

Las Vegas, NV—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today met with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, U.S. Attorney for Nevada Dan Bogden, Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, as well as local, state, private, and federal law enforcement to tour the Las Vegas Fusion Counterterrorism Center. The Fusion Center was created to allow local, state, private and federal law enforcement to coordinate, communicate and respond to security threats with joint operations.  

Sen. Reid played a major role in securing the funding to build the center that is giving Nevada an edge when it comes to coordination between private and public law enforcement. Attorney General Holder praised Nevada’s implementation of public/private partnership, saying that Las Vegas is a model for other cities to emulate. The group also discussed the recovery package, which provides $23 million for our law enforcement to create additional task forces and purchase needed equipment.

“Through the technology at the Fusion Center, local and federal law enforcement are able to communicate better, track crime, prevent terror attacks, and prepare for disasters,” said Reid. “I want to thank the Attorney General and our state law enforcement for making this unprecedented coordination work so well to keep the people of Nevada safe.”
