Reid Meets With Corporation For Public Broadcasting Board Member Lori Gilbert

Elko newscaster and Corporation for Public Broadcasting board member Lori Gilbert interviews Nevada Senator Harry Reid. The two talked about the public broadcasting needs of rural areas.

Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid met yesterday with Lori Gilbert, a television and radio broadcaster from Elko and board member for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), to examine the role of public broadcasting in rural areas.

Reid and Gilbert discussed the importance of attracting broadcasting service to those areas currently without access, as well as ways to implement the CPB strategy for the future.

Gilbert became a CPB board member in 2008 and continues to work as the news director for Elko Broadcasting Company's KELK-AM and KLKO-FM. Gilbert is also the news director and reporter for KENV-TV (NBC) in Elko.

“Lori is a strong and experienced voice for Nevada in public broadcasting,” said Reid. “Her rural roots will serve her well as she speaks for not only Nevada’s rural communities but all areas currently underserved by public broadcasting. I am confident that Lori will do great things to increase access, diversity, and quality dialogue in public broadcasting.”
