March 4, 2010 Washington D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid welcomed President Alvin Moyle, Chairman of the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe, and Vice President Arlan Melendez, Chairman of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, today to discuss issues pressing tribal communities in Nevada. The Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada representatives thanked Reid for his support of Nevada Native Americans, and talked over solutions to rising problems involving tribal health care, land use and law enforcement. Moyle and Melendez are in Washington DC to attend the Executive Council Winter Session of the National Congress of American Indians and the 12th Annual National HHS Tribal Budget and Policy Consultation Session. “I thank the leaders of these two Nevada tribes for the great working relationship we share and their advocacy for their communities,” said Reid. “Chairman Moyle and Chairman Melendez will represent their tribal nations well as they meet with the National Congress of American Indians and work with the federal government to improve health care services.”
