Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today discussed the immediate benefits of the newly enacted Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for Nevada’s seniors. Reid was joined today by senior citizens and representatives from the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, National Community Pharmacists Association and American Nurses Association to discuss further adjustments to health insurance reform that will help seniors.

“Nevada seniors will see a number of benefits from the new law, including free preventive services for more than 300,000 Nevada seniors,” said Senator Reid. “Nearly 60,000 Nevada seniors will have their drug costs in the Medicare Part D ‘donut hole’ covered over time and seniors who have been discriminated against for preexisting conditions or haven’t been able to afford coverage will now have access to affordable plans. This is the best news Nevada seniors could get, especially as our state continues its economic recovery.”
