Federal government agrees to job creating clean energy transmission plan October 30, 2009 Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement after NV Energy received a critical memorandum of understanding from the Western Area Power Authority to build transmission lines that would help make Nevada a net exporter of clean renewable energy to California and the Desert Southwest: “This is another important step for Nevada. Building transmission to get renewable energy to urban areas is key to creating more jobs and reenergizing our economy. NV Energy should be commended for its work in this area,” Reid said. “I’m very pleased to see that the recovery act continues to bring jobs and resources to Nevada.”
